Further discussion is, I suppose, unavaoidable, but since no one was outraged at the last version, let's work to it for awhile. -- Tim -- -- Tim Conrow tim@ipac.caltech.edu work:626-397-9578 fax:626-397-7354 --------------F8127670B91986F16D4E91A5 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; name="soc.priorities" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="soc.priorities" 1) The IOC plan defines; a) which ST members are responsible for analyzing various data segments and who the cognizent DA analyst is; b) who the cognizent DA analyst is for the various DA s/w components. 2) DA Ops cogE's (those with access to the 'wops' account) will be responsible for running the initial pipeline or confirming that an automatic start-up process has done so. 3) Pipeline reruns must be approved by: a) the PI or his designate for survey data; b) the AI team lead for AI-team specific data; c) the lead ST member of each ancillary program for ancillary observations; d) the responsible ST lead for various IOC and calibration observations. 3.1) Reruns can be cutoff or limited in number by the PI or SOC Manager if they become so numerous as to be an unacceptable burden on SOC personnel. 4) DA Ops cogE's will perform any requested reruns on a time available basis, with runs and QC of newly arrived data taking priority, unless a particular rerun has been explicitly elevated in priority by the PI. 5) ST prioritized duties (on the downlink side) are: a) Analyzing instrument data or telemetry to confirm the health of the instrument and S/C; b) Analysis of instrument characterization and calibration observations; c) Assisting with QC tasks when a backlog exists or the DA team is overwhelmed; d) Assigning final segment quality, including accept/reject decisions, and requesting reruns e) Science. 6) DA engineer prioritized duties are, for non-AI data: a) Analysis of the Input process and inventory of arriving vs. expected data; b) Completing primary pipeline runs or confirming completion of the automated process -- Ops cogE's only; c) Confirming that S/W cogE's processes are running correctly; d) Generation of QC data and H/K tlm reports sufficient for confirming instrument and S/C health; e) Full segment pipeline QC; f) Assisting AI cogE's with QC'ing AI data on a time-available basis; g) Doing pipeline reruns -- Ops cogE's only; h) Running manual multi-segment or area coadds; i) S/W upgrades; j) Assisting ST members with generating science results or otherwise having fun looking at the data. 7) The AI cogE's priorities are as 6) above but specifically for AI observations and only after that, on a time available basis, for non-AI observations. Also, change a) to read a) Inventory of arriving data to keep track of which AI segments for each observer have been completed and analysis of the Input process. 8) Certain designated DA engineers will be responsible for SOC resource monitoring, backups, DBMS integrity checking and asundry other routine tasks not related to data analysis. --------------F8127670B91986F16D4E91A5--
